Spotted Around Town...

Rather than just heading straight to the train station, we took a long detour through town to see more celebrations and funny statues.

Savannah definitely looked better in the wig than Steve

It is dumbfounding why any city hosting such a large event wouldn’t ensure that there lots of temporary trash bins set up.

Steve never passes up the chance to get photos with the ladies.

My sister really loved Snoopy when we were growing up, but I’m glad she wasn’t obsessed with the whole Peanuts gang like this fellow.

It was definitely a day filled with lots of good cheer and bright colors.

On the way to the station, we spotted this awesome four-storey tall whale sculpture named Skyscraper made of five tons of plastic collected from beaches in Hawaii. It is moving around the world to bring attention to the global plastic pollution problem. 

Along the Canal...

It was nice to see that immediately following the floats, teams of folks were already out fishing for trash. 

While Patti and Steve’s two oldest daughters hung out with friends, the two youngest sat through the long parade without complaint.

This woman was clearly very happy to be photographed...

...and so were these folks with a variety of different sexual orientation flags. 

Boats with a Message...

There were a lot of activists with important messages. These signs say intersexuality is not a disease and that there are 85,000 Dutch folks that identify as intersex. 

This says that 119,000 children are abused in the Netherlands annually.

More Colorful Boats...

It was definitely a very festive atmosphere.

Lots of Colorful Boats...

The parade was much bigger than I expected with over 40 boats.

The lady in front of us must have been there last year to know to bring an umbrella to keep the confetti out of her drink.

There was a large variety of costumes, such as the Village People.

There were also some unexpected moments, like when this giant rubber duck squeezed under the bridge.

Magic You: Utrecht Canal Pride...

We were excited to be invited by Steve and Patti to join them for the Gay Pride Canal Parade in Utrecht, called Magic You. Rob, a Canadian hasher who had been staying with us for several weeks as he job searched, joined us as well. 

Loved all the colorful decorations around town.

The weather was perfect and we found a great waterfront spot for picnicking and parade watching.

Final Paid Sydney Shoot...

Ashlynn’s final paid shoot while in Sydney was for a new women’s clothing rental company called High Street Hire. Apparently the client initially thought Ashlynn looked too “high fashion” for their “commercial” shoot, but she had worked several times with the photographer and he knew that Ashlynn could pull off looking like the girl next door.

It’s now six months later and the company has just launched a website, which Ashlynn appears on, and switched their Instagram account to public, so here’s a video from the shoot.

She was thrilled to be shooting on the beach again. While all of the above photos were behind-the-scenes shots, here’s a few official ones from the website.
