Back to Kensington Park...

The following day I was back in Kensington Park to see some art at the Serpentine Galleries. Along the way, I came across several green parakeets...

….The Arch by Henry Moore...

…and the Round Pond...

….with Kensington Palace in the background.

I also passed by the Prince Albert Memorial, in the foreground, and Royal Albert Hall, in the background.

 

A Lovely Spring Hash Trail...

In mid-May we did a West London H3 trail that started in Paddington. Across the street from the pub was this clock that looks like a man is trapped inside. It’s actually Dutch artist Maarten Baas in a 12-hour film; I’ve also seen his larger version in Schiphol Airport. 

Here’s silly Opee doing his Superman impersonation as he changed into his running clothes in a phonebooth. 

It was a lovely spring evening as we ran through the Rose Garden in Hyde Park...

…along the Serpentine...

…and past the Italian Gardens in Kensington Park, which was created in the 1860s as a romantic gesture from Prince Albert to Queen Victoria. 

 

Unique Architectural Perspectives...

Quite incredible to see this massive construction site.

As you can see, the façade is being held up in order to preserve it...

…while the building behind it is being demolished. Clearly this will be a multiple year project. It will be interesting to see how much progress they’ve made when I return in June 2025.

Also being renovated is the Church of St Catherine. Here you can see the stark difference in the color of the bricks as they’re being deep cleaned.

Spotted Around Brussels...

I came across several large murals, likely commissioned by the city...

…plus some random street art.

Also came across these birds...

…and these silly ducks.

Definitely the most shocking thing I saw in Brussels was this giant ad outside of an eyeglass store.

Cool Art Deco Building

While Jimmy and Gerlof worked, I enjoyed taking long walks around the city. 

Parc du Bruxelles (Brussels Park) is the largest and first urban public park in Central Brussels, opening in 1783. It was previously known as the Royal Park.

Back in Brussels...

At the end of May 2024, we spent two nights with Gerlof in the European District before heading to Belgian Nash Hash. 

We enjoyed exploring some local restaurants and bars with him. 

 

Miscellaneous Fun in London in May...

We walked through this cool spot on our way to the Imperial War Museum.

We were really impressed with the talent at a community theater musical version of Young Frankenstein. 

This speaks for itself. 

Whenever I change tube lines at Westminster, I always feel like I’m walking through a movie set about a dystopian future.

St Katharine’s Dock was especially colorful as it hosted a special event featuring little ships that went to Dunkirk to help evacuate Allied soldiers during World War II.

Opee had fun leaving a love message for me on trail. 

Thrilled to see that Opee and I were included in Mouthwash’s painting of the Hercules pub in Lambeth.
