Outside Murals...

While much of the building was covered in random graffiti, there were lots of interesting murals scattered around.

 

More Broken Windows...

I especially loved the view from this window...

…of these delicate red leaves.

As with the tiny windows, I took photos of the larger windows from the inside...

…and from the outside. 

Impossible to tell if this mask ended up here by accident or by plan. 

 

Tiny Broken Windows...

There was an incredible variety of types of windows in the huge building. I especially enjoyed taking photos of windows from the inside looking out onto the fall leaves...

…but also captured plenty of different types of windows from the outside.

 

Surrounded by Beauty...

The view from the terrace of the sanatorium was quite spectacular, making it understandable why this property was chosen as a peaceful place for recovery. While this photo looks like a manicured park in front of the building...

…this one confirms that the grounds were a mess.

There were lots of fall colors to be seen from the rear of the building...

…and spotted from the windows.

 

Drone Time...

In addition to flying the drone from outside the building, Jimmy encouraged Veronica to try flying from the second floor. Her test flight went smoothly flying out and back into the building. 

Jimmy then went downstairs to yell up instructions to Veronica. She was pretty excited on takeoff...

…crossing the room...

…and going out of the window. It got a bit complicated after discovering another drone being flown from outside, but things didn’t fall apart until Veronica tried bringing the drone back through the window and it hit some glass. I was so shocked watching the drone flip onto its back and spin around and around in an apparent death dance like a big bug, that I forgot to keep taking photos. 

Eventually Veronica managed to turn it off. As you can see, several of the blades snapped off, but luckily she was able to purchase replacement blades. Now seven months later, she hasn’t actually flown it again, but is optimistic that it still works. 

 

Rampant Decay Around Every Corner...

It was a huge building, but we did our best to see as much of it as possible. We didn’t come across a single room that was left in a pristine condition. There was graffiti and missing railings...

…mangled machinery...

….broken windows...

…and crumbling walls.
