Hiking in the Sun...

We enjoyed hiking both days, especially since the sun was shining and we didn’t need our coats. These photos were taken when we took the funicular to the top and hiked back down to the monastery. The 2nd day we did the opposite, by hiking down to the sacred cave (more like a rock wall within a very cute 18th-century chapel where legend has it that the image of the Black Madonna appeared in 880 AD) and taking the funicular back up. The amazing thing about this particular trail was that there were large statues along the way that were truly baffling as to how they were placed there in the early 1900’s. Ashlynn preferred our 3rd hike, despite hitting a dead end, since it was the only one off-road. No paved paths for that kid!
