Partying in Tallinn...

We made it our mission to find Tallinn’s best mulled wine. James and Bob decided that Kate’s booth was the winner; she explained that she uses cherries to add extra flavor and rum to spike it (perhaps that’s the secret of surviving the dark winter).
We also enjoyed searching for some nightlife in Tallinn. We bumped into several other AWC couples our first evening when we stopped for some margaritas at a Tex-Mex restaurant, then went en masse to an Irish pub. On our last night, we went bar hopping with Jan and Bob after a group dinner at an authentic Russian restaurant. Perhaps it shouldn’t be surprising that we ran into some trouble at a bar called Hell Hunt. There was quite an international mix involved when Jan’s purse was almost stolen: a Hungarian woman alerted an Australian man who tackled the woman who was trying to steal an American’s purse (we never did find out what nationality the unsuccessful thief was). Afterwards, we went dancing at the club in the Hotel Viru’s basement; we couldn’t help but wonder what the KGB in its heyday might have used the basement for. Jan and Bob headed back to the hotel around midnight, but James and I danced like fools until 3 a.m. despite having a 5:30 a.m. bus ride to the airport.
