There were ten kids in the MacLean Clan led by Lena from Germany. The week was full of outdoor activities including abseiling, team building (such as raft building and Jacob’s ladder), tree climbing and canoeing.
Veronica’s favorite activity was gorge walking, which you can see on the video she put together from GoPro shots she took all week long.
The final days were spent on a 2-night expedition in a beautiful and isolated section of the Highlands about a 45-minute drive from the base camp. They didn’t cover nearly as much distance as during the Silver Award Expedition, but there were some steep parts that were quite scary.
The three girls squeezed into a 2-person tent. Seven of the group hiked up to a mini-lochan (small lake). Veronica was excited about the food. They even had chocolate pudding.
They were really lucky with the weather as it never rained, merely had some heavy mist. They were also lucky that everyone got along and there were no jerks in the group. Veronica had such a great time that she hopes to do a 3-week camp just as her father did so many years ago.
