Despite the inability to get tickets for any of the Olympic games in London, we still decided to head there for the day to get a dose of Olympic fever. The girls enjoyed posing around town with the statues of Wenlock, the Olympic mascot.
Unlike when we went to the Atlanta Olympics in 1996, we couldn’t get into the Olympic Park because we didn’t have tickets. Instead, we went to the free event at Hyde Park. Silly us—we thought we could bring a picnic into the park, but no food was allowed so we had to eat our picnic outside of the event grounds and then throw away any leftover food. The highlight was watching a group of sopranos singing rock songs.
