These Reindeer Don’t Fly...


Since we were sitting low in the sled, the view straight ahead wasnt too pretty; most of my photos were filled with the bum of our reindeer. You can see above that ours often tried to pass the sled ahead of us; apparently he forgot that was impossible since he was tied to the sled ahead. If you look closely, youll see our Sami guide riding along the skids of the front sled. While the sky wasnt as spectacular as the day before, the sunrise was still colorful and the woods we rode through were beautiful. Our guide told us that the reindeer arent domesticated like cows, but are basically wild. There are over 200,000 reindeer in Finnish Lapland and theyre the major source of meat in the region.
