Reflections on our 6th Year - Part 1

Happy New Year! We’re heading out soon to a New Year’s Eve party, but first I wanted to squeeze in a few extra postings. Our 6th anniversary in Holland was on November 22nd, but due to a crazy schedule, we didn’t manage to have our traditional anniversary dinner at La Lantera Pizzeria in Scheveningen until last night. As usual, between courses, we reflected on the highs and lows of our 6th year. Luckily the list of lows is fairly short:
  • Missing out on getting another rental house because outbid by another family
  • Bummed that Jimmy couldn’t join us in Scotland, Kent, Raleigh or Massachusetts
  • Melissa: missing diving with the girls because got ear squeeze during first dive, nearly constant bickering between daughters (which Ashlynn claims is normal sibling communication)
  • Jimmy: disappointing atmosphere and outcomes at work
  • Veronica: monthly visits to the orthodontist, drama camp being cancelled so had to spend vacation with the family
  • Ashlynn: injuring arm during Ultimate Frisbee Jr Nationals and losing to the Year 6s (5th graders), Masha switching schools, dead deer in the water while kayaking
