Veronica suggested that we meet at the John Lewis Gardening Society, a rooftop bar at the John Lewis department store on Oxford Street. It was a nice oasis in the hectic city.
It was fun seeing Veronica wearing some of the work clothes that I bought for her during her quick visit in mid-June.
We started off sitting on the ground because the place was so packed, but we eventually managed to find seats. When we realized that we could never get to the museum that Veronica wanted to take us to before it closed, we decided to see what last minute show tickets we could scrounge up.
We didn’t know anything about Kinky Boots other than a few friends had seen it, but we liked the name and that we could get reasonably priced tickets. Little did we know that it had won the Tony Award for Best Musical in 2013.
We really enjoyed this musical based on a true story about a British shoe manufacturer that saved his factory by switching to make “kinky” boots for drag queens.
