This map shows much of our route that day with just bits of Richmond cut off on the left side. As you can see, the Thames doesn’t follow a straight line, so our curvy route was 15.5 miles (27 kilometers) long for that day.
The sun sets pretty early in November in London, around 4:30 p.m., so eventually we were walking in the dark, which brings it own beauty.Especially beautiful was the Albert Bridge, built in 1877, which I had only seen in daylight before. What a surprise to see it fully lit by 4,000 LED lights.
I even managed to find a reflection of it in an apartment window.
Lastly, we crossed Battersea Park and declared our first day officially finished.
On the way to the overground station, we came across the perfect lane for Carlin and a pub that had space for the four of us for a much deserved dinner.
