La Givrine Hike...

While the city center of Aubonne might be sleepy, just across the highway was a large industrial area with lots of big box stores for the entire region, including IKEA. The following day, Nina and I went grocery shopping at both Aldi and Lidl, which were much more impressive shops than I’d seen in Holland. While the Netherlands required masks on public transport much earlier than Switzerland, we weren’t required to wear masks inside public buildings until December 1, while masks were already required inside shops in Switzerland in July. 

After lunch, Nina and I drove about an hour away (further than normal due to a road detour) to Col de la Givrine, a high mountain pass in the region surrounded by forests and pastures filled with cows. 

We came across some unusual spider webs leading to holes in the ground—can’t imagine how big and creepy those spiders must be to have made a hole of that size. 

We came across a lot of cows. 

Luckily, they were friendly. 

It was always exciting when we spotted Lake Geneva.

We had planned on stopping at this farm to buy some cheese, but our path was blocked by a bunch of cows. 

After dinner, we drove down to the lake with the guys for a walk and a limoncello at a small snack bar.
