C2C Day 1: Heading Inland...

Stage 1: St. Bees to Ennerdale

The next section of the route took us through a few small villages where we passed one of the only pubs we saw along the entire route (excluding those in the villages where we stayed at the end of each stage).

We were excited to see our first C2C signpost, which were a rarity until we passed through the Lakes District National Park.

The path varied from small country roads...

...to fields covered in sheep.

We got excited when the guidebook said we’d pass by a bakery, but it was the most dismal bakery any of us had ever seen and we only bought drinks.

Eventually we came across a rugby field with some shade where we could enjoy our packed lunch.
