Crossing the Rhine...

After Jimmy and Inga finished skating, we went in search for some gluhwijn and were very pleased when we found some at a restaurant that’s otherwise much too rich for our blood. Then we headed to my favorite canal, which was still enough for some lovely reflections.
It was nice to see inside one of the normally closed doors.
As we neared the bridge, someone suggested that we take the opportunity to walk across the Oude Rijn (Old Rhine River).
The ice was very thick and could easily hold us, but also had lots of cracks which were disconcerting.
There were a surprising number of seagulls swarming around the De Valk Windmill, likely due to the fish stalls at the nearby farmers market.
As scary as Jimmy looked earlier, he even looked scarier with his mask upside down.
We stopped for another gluhwijn and then headed to the station to catch a train home.
