Let It Freeze...

After many nights of freezing temps, most of our local canals were frozen by February 12. We saw the first signs of skaters on the canals...
...and on the pond in the main park.
When we saw a giant tanker truck pull up to the back of the bakery, we stopped to have a chat with the driver...
…who was pumping a ton of white flour into the bakery through a giant hose, followed by a ton of whole wheat. His tanker can hold up to five different flours at once, but this bakery only has the piping for two. Jimmy jokingly asked if he could make a delivery to our house, but I put my foot down since we don’t need a half ton of flour, the minimum delivery.
The Vliet was freezing more thoroughly as well.
The local ice skating club opened for their members, so Jimmy quickly joined so he could go skating.
These fellows were driving a remote control car on a small canal.
Jimmy couldn’t resist walking across a canal...
…and convinced me and Kati to do the same. That evening at 8:45 p.m., Jimmy grabbed his skates and headed to our local canals. It wasn’t until I was logging onto our BMPH3 Friday Night Drinks Zoom call that it dawned on me that curfew had just started at 9 p.m. Luckily Jimmy hadn’t gotten his skates on yet, so he heard my call warning him he needed to get home as fast and inconspicuously as possible to avoid getting fined.
