C2C Day 12: Living on the Edge...

Stage 12: Danby Wiske to Osmotherley
I must admit that looking back at this point of the trail, it doesn’t look like a spot to cause high anxiety and stress, but at the time, I was really on edge. This road is the four-laned A19, which we had to cross starting near the gas station without a light or crosswalk. When we first approached, there were big rigs flying down the hills in both directions. Luckily, we only had to wait about six minutes for the traffic to clear on our side and miraculously it cleared on the other side once we reached the median.
Soon after, we reached Ingleby Arncliffe, a village of 300 with this impressive water tower from 1915, which apparently still provides water for one farm.
This was the perfect place to stop for a glass of wine and a snack.
