We went into a lodge to relax, eat breakfast and wait for Ishor. After
he arrived, we were introduced to our two porters who would be carrying our four duffel
bags containing clothes, toiletries and sleeping bags.
The trek began! We walked just above the runway (which was noticeably short)...
...before going through the village of Lukla.
After Ishor got our trekking permits...
...we passed under this National Luminary Pasan Lhamu Memorial Gate, dedicated to the first Nepali woman to climb to the summit of Mount Everest in 1993 (unfortunately, she did not survive the descent due to bad weather). As you might have noticed, bad weather is a constant fear factor in the Himalayas.
