After walking past the National Gallery of Victoria several times, we finally went inside and were happy to learn that entrance was free.
We started on the top floor where we were utterly mesmerized by the temporary exhibit Carve a Future, Devour Everything, Become Something by local multidisciplinary artist Darren Sylvester. Wonder what was going through Ashlynn’s head as she stood in front of Broken Model. Her favorite part was by far Sylvester’s For You, an incredible dance floor, based on the colors of Yves Saint Laurent make-up.
Ashlynn could have danced for hours, but we had to move on so we could see the rest of the museum.
That floor had lots more contemporary art, including this cool neon emu...
...and this funky series re-imagining the arrival of Europeans in Australia, including Invasion, Kangaroo......Invasion, UFO Possums...
...and Invasion, Giant Birds.
Constructing Paris was made out of maps printed onto leather gloves.
Failed to find out the name of this funky light fixture, but it reminded me of crushed Nespresso capsules.
